Burford, Oxfordshire
I am so excited. We went into a bunch of Burford shops, and then I saw a shop that sold old records. I went in and looked through the blues and soul albums. Then I asked if they had any by Janis Joplin. (Back story--about 9 years ago, Lynn accidentally sold my Janis Joplin double album at a garage sale--we have been looking for a replacement ever since.) He said no, but he would have one coming in next week. And it was a double album--and the description fit the one I had. So I asked him to hold it for me, and said that my nephew would come over and pick it up. Guess that gives Matthew--25 ? years old--his first chance to buy a vinyl record. Don't know yet how he will get it to us, but we will ask them to pack it for shipping.
Lynn at the door of our hotel
They switched our room today--the other one was too small to get pic. They switched it because someone else had reserved our room.
We had dinner tonight at our hotel--actually it is called "a restaurant with rooms". Lynn had monk fish in a tomato sauce, and I had a wonderful shrimp pasta with white wine, tomatoes, garlic, parsley. We also had an Eton Mess with fresh strawberries--Wikipedia definition: Eton mess is a traditional English dessert consisting of a mixture of strawberries, pieces of meringue and cream, which is traditionally served at Eton College's annual cricket game against the students of Winchester College. (Colleges are English boarding schools.) It was wonderful.
