Our first day of our hop on hop off tour.Views from the bus.

Arc de Triumph

 Eiffel Tower

We did not go up the Eiffel Tower because the queues were so long.  We may try tomorrow.

The Louvre

We hd kunch at the fancy cafe at the Louvre.  Lynn had smoked salmon and I  had a glorified ham and cheese sandwich called croque monsieur.

There were huge crowds at the Mona Lisa, but seeing my walking stick, the guard escorted me up where I could see it close.

The Venus de Milo

If you didn't look up, you missed a lot of art.

Me, mid photo, back at the Mona Lisa.

The Horses of Marly.  Statues moved from a park abandoned by the revolution and moved into a covered courtyard to preserve them.  By Coustous (sp/)

Notre Dame

A chandelier, removed from the transept cross for restoration.

The Louvre from across the river.

A coal barge on the river.

Musem D'Orsay.  Closed on Monday, so we will go tomorrow.

 Opera house

We were so tired when we got back to the hotel, I had Lynn go over to the corner Thai restaurant for takeout.  We had delicious Thai Basil Shrimp, rice and Thai seafood soup.

One of the highlights of the day was going back to the hotel and catching the sports on TV and seeing Zag alum and member of the French National Basketball team Ronny Turiaf receive his silver medal.  Unfortunately, he did not play in this series due to a broken hand, but he is still representing Gonzaga and France well.
