Burford

We had a lovely walk through Burford today.  Went mostly through the back streets and fields.

A lovely garden.  There were pots of flowers with prices on them--winter hanging baskets for sale.  Wouldn't survive our winters!

As we crossed this bridge, there probably 50 ducks and geese swimming in the water below.

St. John the Baptist Church

Grave stone of a Robert Mann. Could he be an ancestor, Mary Lee?

Died January 10, 1849 Aged 43 years.

(As with all photos, click to view full size and read the inscription.)

Interior of the church.

This church member was misting the flowers.  The large number of flower arrangements was partly due to a wedding scheduled for this afternoon.

This arrangement had yarrow, rose hips and other fall-type plants.

Very extensive graveyard.

Church tower and clock

Crossing the one way (car traffic) bridge in town there was this lovely yew (?) hedge shaped like castle
and a spillway or dam of some type.

We found a footpath and followed it along some fields until we came to this field of cows and climbed the style.

Very calm cows---didn't see any thing to beware of.

This young cow was close us and totally ignored us as we took its picture.

Lovely roses growing up the side of an out building.

The church from the other side of the river (canal?) and some fields.

More lovely flowers.

The church from a different angle.

Then we walked through the High street of Burford again.  We figure we walked over two miles.

We are now back in our hotel room enjoying a spot of tea.
