Just 4 days to go. I now have all of our bags packed to make sure everything we are planning to take will fit. We are trying to travel light! It doesn't look like it from the picture, but we will take just one checked bag--the big one with clothes enough for a week, a large carry-on with all our meds, rain jackets, and inflight needs, and a leather satchel backpack carry-on with our travel books, documents, MacBook Air and other electronic stuff.
I had planned to use my Gonzaga sports duffle, but it was too heavy for me to carry on trains and through airports, so we decided to get a carry-on with wheels that converts to a backpack. Our big one also converts to a backpack, and both of them have a small daypack that can be taken off and used while we are touring around. We can even take the daypack off the checked bag if it is too heavy, and it can become Lynn's second carry-on.
Of course, I have to take some stuff out that we will be using for the next 3 days, but at least we know it will all fit in, we won't have to pay for our checked bag (since we bought our tickets before June 1, 2011) and we won't exceed the weight limits.
Good to go!
